Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus can cause various complications, both macrovascular and microvascular. The incidence of diabetes mellitus is always increasing every year, so prevention is needed to reduce the number of sufferers and minimize the impact of complications of diabetes mellitus. The aim of the study was to determine the risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the Lubuk Buaya Public Health Center, Padang City in 2020. This type of research is analytic with a case control design. This research was conducted in July 2020 in the work area of Puskesmas Lubuk Buaya Padang, targeting 76 respondents, data collection techniques are primary data. Data processing techniques were editing, coding, data entry, tabulating, cleaning and data analysis using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the ChiSquare test The results of the study, it was found that 50% of respondents experienced Type 2 diabetes, 60.5% had sufficient knowledge, 55.3% lacked food intake, 61.8% lacked physical activity, 39.5% of respondents' BMI was not normal. There is a relationship between knowledge, food intake, physical activity, and BMI with the incidence of Type 2 diabetes. Knowledge, food intake, physical activity and greatly affect the incidence of Type 2 diabetes. It is hoped that respondents will be more active in carrying out daily activities, maintaining food intake, so that blood sugar is normal so that it avoids an increase in glucose levels in the blood.
