Abstract

Anemia is a serious micronutrient problem with the highest prevalence experienced by Indonesia. Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the hemoglobin value in the blood is less than normal. Based on the 2013 Basic Health Research, the prevalence of anemia in women in Indonesia is 23% which means that 2-3 people experience anemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nutrient intake, menstrual cycle, menstrual duration and knowledge with the incidence of anemia in students at MTs Islamiyah Batahan in 2020. This type of research is descriptive analytic with a cross sectional study design, conducted at MTs Islamiyah Batahan with a sample size of 47 people. in September 2020 - January 2021. Intake data collection was done by Recall 2 x 24 and the value of hemoglobin levels was obtained from blood tests with Easy Touch GCHb. The data were processed univariate and bivariate using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results of this study showed a relationship between protein intake (P value 0.004 = <0.05), there was a relationship between vitamin C intake (P value = 0.002 <0.05), there was a relationship between menstrual duration (P value 0.002 = <0.05), and there was a relationship between knowledge (P value 0.000 = <0.05) with the incidence of anemia in students of MTs Islamiyah Batahan in 2020. There is no relationship between iron intake (P value 0.391 => 0.05) and there is no relationship between menstrual cycle (P value 0.190 => 0.05) with the incidence of anemia in MTs Islamiyah Batahan students in 2020. Suggestions from this research are expected for students to pay more attention to the adequacy of nutrients, especially protein, vitamin C, iron so that they can grow and develop optimally and avoid anemia.
