Abstract
Background and purpose Soil transmitted helminth infection is a global problem, especially in developing countries. Soil Transmitted Helminths can infect humans through eggs or larvae and are transmitted through the soil. A study has been conducted to see the effect of the incubation time of the direct flotation method by allowing it to stand for 1x24 hours on the results of the examination of Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs. The purpose of this study was to determine the number of worm eggs on the direct and 1x24 hour flotation method. The type of research used was analytical research. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the number of STH worm eggs on examination using the direct flotation method and 1x24 hours, it was found that from 15 samples examined using both methods or time, one positive sample was found, with 2 eggs of Ascaries lumbricoides worms found in direct flotation and 3 eggs of worms Ascaries lumbricoides in 1x24 hour flotation. From table 4.2 above, it was found that 1 child (7%) was infected with intestinal nematode worms and 14 children (93%) were not infected with intestinal nematode worms. In the chi-square statistical test, it was found that the p value was 0.072 > 0.05, which means that Ho is accepted, at this value we can conclude that there is no effect of waiting time or incubation time on the Soil Transmitted Helminth examination in the 1x24 hour flotation method.
