Abstract

The background and purpose of soil-transmitted helminth infection is a global problem, especially in developing countries. The purpose of this study was to determine the number of worm eggs on the examination of the flotation method using brine solution, sea water. The type of research used was analytical research. The type of research used is analytical research, this study will look at the number of worm eggs between sea water and Brine solution using the flotation method. The results showed the number of eggs of STH worms on examination using the flotation method using two solutions, namely Brine and seawater as a substitute for NaCl, it was found that 1 child (7%) was infected with intestinal nematode worms and 14 children (93%) were not infected. intestinal nematode worms. On the morphology of the eggs of Ascaries lumbricoides worm examination using sea water and brine solution did not change with a morphological shape of an elongated round shape, 2 layers of walls with a thick outer layer of very rough/irregular winding (albumin layer), the second layer is relatively smooth (a layer of hyaline). It can be concluded that the type of intestinal nematode worm eggs found was Ascaries lumbricoides, the percentage of STH infection obtained was 1 child (7%) infected with intestinal nematode worms and 14 children (93%) who were not infected with intestinal nematode worms, and there were no morphological differences. worm eggs Ascaries lumbricoides examination of the flotation method using sea water and brine solution.
