Abstract

16.RAHAYU PUTRI SULNI 1614201102 ABSTRACT Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a fasting hyperglycemia condition that occurs despite the availability of endogenous insulin. Based on the phenomenon obtained that the incidence of diabetes mellitus globally is still increasing which is about 463 million adults (20-79 years). Indonesia increased from 1.5% to 2.0%. Meanwhile, in Sundatar Health Center, Pasaman also increased from 90 visits to 93 visits. The lack of knowledge of puskesmas nurses about other ways of reducing blood sugar such as doing flute music therapy that gives relaxing effects to diabetic mellitus patients so as to inhibit the production of the hormone cortisol and lower blood sugar levels. This research method with quasy experimental design, with one group pretest-posttest design approach, sampled 24 people with purposive sampling technique, data processed using paired t-test. Univariate analysis of average blood sugar levels before flute music therapy (286.21) and after flute music therapy (234.96). Based on respondents' characteristics, the highest age was 45 years (87.5%), the highest gender of women (83.3%), the most moderate stress levels (41.7%), drug-compliant (100%), and good diet (100%). Bivariate results showed there was an effect of flute music therapy on blood sugar reduction with the average difference before and after it was done was 51.25 with p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). It concluded that there is an influence of flute music therapy on the decrease in blood sugar. It is hoped that the nurses can apply flute music therapy to people with type 2 diabetes mellitus in controlling blood sugar levels.
