Abstract

4.ALDO MAULANA PUTRA 1614201086 ABSTRACT The factors that influence nurses in carrying out patient safety are motivation, motivation is the activity of the actor as energy to get up to meet the needs and job duties according to the goals set. Effective communication is a major element of patient safety goals because communication is the first cause of patient safety problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Nurse Motivation and Effective Communication in Patient Safety in Internal Inpatient Rooms and Surgery at RSI Ibnu Sina Yarsi Bukittinggi in 2020. The research in this thesis uses a sampling method, namely total sampling with 37 respondents. This research was conducted directly by interview using a questionnaire-shaped instrument with a descriptive analytical research design with a cross sectional approach. The data were processed using the Chi Square test. Univariate analysis showed that from 37 nurses, there were 29 nurses who had high motivation (78.4%), 19 nurses who communicated effectively (51.4%). The bivariate analysis was obtained from 8 nurses who had low motivation, it was found that 7 nurses (87.5%) had poor effective communication, while of the 29 nurses who had high motivation there were 18 nurses (62.1%) who were good at communicating effectively. Based on the results of statistical analysis, the p-value = 0.013, which means that there is a significant relationship between nurses' motivation and effective communication.
