Abstract

ABSTRACT Lifestyle in adolescents greatly affects the lack of consumption of vegetables and fruits because adolescents tend to be influenced by the surrounding environment such as consuming fast food and foods with excess fat, sugar, and salt which will cause health problems. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of nutrition education using leaflet media kemenkes on knowledge, attitudes, behavior of vegetable and fruit consumption. The type of research is quasi experiment using pre and post test design with control group. The study was conducted in July-August 2023, the total population was 222 people and the subjects were 40 people. Subjects were obtained using the Simple Random Sampling technique. Data analysis using non-parametric statistical tests (mann-whitney test and wilcoxon test). The results of the intervention group study knowledge before education averaged (7.0) and SD (0.973), after education averaged (8.75) and SD (0.789). Attitudes before education averaged (8.85) and SD (1.899), after education averaged (9.75) and SD (0.639). Vegetable and fruit consumption behavior before education averaged (63.40) and SD (68.442), after education averaged (93.95) and SD (69.258). The results of the Wilcoxon test showed that there was a significant difference in the knowledge intervention group before and after education (P = 0.001) and there was no significant difference in attitudes and behavior of vegetable and fruit consumption before and after education (P = 0.056 and P = 0.086). The results of the mann whitney test in the control and intervention groups had a significant effect on knowledge and attitudes (P = 0.000 and P = 0.013) and there was no significant effect on vegetable and fruit consumption behavior (P = 0.756 and P = 0.317). Nutrition education with leaflet media kemenkes improve knowledge and attitudes although the increase in vegetable and fruit consumption is not statistically significant.
