Abstract

ABSTRACT Anemia in pregnant women is a condition of decreased number of erythrocytes so that hemoglobin levels are 11 g / dl. Based on the results of World Health Organization data, 38.2% of pregnant women who experience anemia in the world. In Indonesia, pregnant women with Hb levels below 11 g / dl amounted to 30% of pregnant women. This study was conducted to determine the picture of erythrocyte index in pregnant women trimester 3 suffering from anemia at Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi Hospital in 2022–May 2023. This research uses analytical observation methods and was conducted at the Laboratory of Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi Hospital from January – June 2023. A total of 28 samples were obtained in this study. The classification of pregnant women with anemia based on Hb levels found mild anemia 67.8% (n = 19), moderate anemia 28.6% (n = 8) and severe anemia 3.6% (n = 1). Normocytic MCV 46.4% (n=13), then microcytic 50% (n=14) and macrocytic (3.6%, n=1). Normochrome MCH 42.8% (n=12), then for hypochrome 53.6% (n=15), and hyperchrome 3.6% (n=1). MCHC was normal 75% (n=21), then low 25% (n=7) and not found high. Based on the erythrocyte index, hypochrome microcytic anemia was 50% (n = 14), followed by normochrome normocytic anemia by 42.8% (n = 12) and hypochrome and macrocytic normocytic anemia had the same percentage respectively, namely 3.6% (n = 1). It can be concluded that pregnant women with anemia at Dr. Achmad Mochtar Bukittinggi Hospital in 2022–May 2023 have hypochrome microcytic anemia. Keywords : erythrocyte index, anemia, pregnant wome
