Abstract

ABSTRACT In Lubuk Buaya Village, Padang City, sereval residents work as hair Barber. Barbers in carrying out their activities are always in contact with humans. This is increases the risk of developing a fungal infection. The fungus that is usually the cause is Dermatophytes. One that is often affected By fungal infections is the skin. Fungal infection of the skin or in medical language Tinea capitis or called scalp ringworm is a disorder of the skin in the hairy head area caused by Dermatophyta fungsi. This fungal inection can be transmitted to Barber Shop customers due to direct contact with barbers that are used interchangeably. The purpose of this study was to determine and identify the presence or absence of Dermatophyta fungi in Hair Shaving sponges in Lubuk Buaya Village, Padang City. This type of research is descriptive by direct observation. This research was conducted in January-July 2023 at the Indonesia Perintis University Laboratory. Samples in this study were five samples of Shaving Sponge taken at the Barber Shop. Examination was carried out by planting on SDA Media. The results of this study found (0%) Dermatophyta fungi, but found Aspergillus fumigatus and Aspergillus sp. Keywords: Dermatophytes, Sponges, Barber shop
