MELDA ANITHIRA (50) The Relationship Between Motivation And Patient Attitudes On Controlling the Risk Factors Of Recurrent Stroke In Post Stroke Patients In Nerve Polyclinic at Rs. Nasional Stroke of Bukittinggi 2018 xiv + 52 pages + 6 tables + 11 attachments ABSTRACT Stroke is a health problem that needs special attention and can attack anyone and anytime, regardless of race, gender, or age. The purpose of this research to see the relationship between motivation and attitudes of patients to controling the risk factors of recurrent stroke in post stroke patients in nerve polyclinic at the hospital of the Nasional Stroke Bukittinggi 2018. The design of this research was descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The research was conducted on 01 February until 12 February 2018, in the nerve polyclinic at the hospital of the National Stroke of Bukittinggi. The population in this research are the stroke patients were treated in nerve polyclinic at the hospital of the National Stroke of Bukittinggi. The sample of the research amounted to 70 people. To collected of the data was using a questionnaire. In analyzing the data , the researcher used SPSS by using frequency distribution and statistic test with Chi-Square p <0.05. The results of the research showed that 40.0% of 70 respondents had low motivation, and 38,6% had negative attitude. Chi-Square statistic test results showed that there was ameaningful relationship between motivation and attitudes of patient on controlling risk factors of recurrent stroke in post stroke patients at the nerve polyclinic at the hospital of the Nasional Stroke of Bukittinggi (p value 0.000). Besides, it is expected for that people with stroke and people who have stroke risk factors should perform regular checks and medication and control of recurrent stroke risk factors. It is hoped for further researchers can serve as baseline and comparison data, especially in terms of controlling the risk factors of recurrent stroke.
