Abstract

Kampung Batu Dalam is one of the highland areas located in the district of Lake Kembar, Solok district. The majority of the people work as farmers, because the cool air supports various kinds of plants, fruits and vegetables grow. To help plant growth, farmers use pesticides. Pesticides are chemicals that farmers use to kill pests. Pesticide-using farmers consume cigarettes after spraying. Cigarettes can cause a decrease in hemoglobin levels. The purpose of this study was to describe the hemoglobin levels of shallot farmers who smoke pesticide users in Kenagarian Kampung Batu Dalam, Solok Regency. This type of research is descriptive using the observation interview technique using a questionnaire by means of question and answer, while the hemoglobin examination uses the Point of care Testing tool. The study population was 15 people who were taken capillary blood before spraying and after spraying. The average results obtained from this study were 14.6 gr / dl before spraying, while after spraying it decreased to 12.6 gr / dl. This happens due to several factors, including the habit of having breakfast before work and the incomplete use of . The personal protective equipment results of this study are expected to enrich public health knowledge about the use of pesticides and the impact of smoking on reducing hemoglobin levels.
