Abstract

Mycobacterium Tuberculosis (MTB) is the bacterium that causes Tuberculosis. Although the lungs are the primary target of Tuberculosis bacteria, other organs can also be affected. The aim of this study was to determine the leukocyte count and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Ahmad Syafii Maarif Sijunjung Regional Hospital who were taking anti-tuberculosis drugs. Data on leukocyte count and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) are presented in the study results. Thirty participants participated in this descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted between February and April 2025. A hematology analyzer was used to measure the leukocyte count, and the Westergreen method was used to measure the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). Based on the research findings, TB patients in the following age groups had a higher prevalence: 4 women (13%) and 2 men (7%), 3 women (10%) and 0 men (0%), 3 women (10%) and 4 men (13%), aged 51-70 years with 2 women (7%) and 10 men (13%), and aged 71-82 years with 0 women (0%) and 2 men (7%). Based on the average values, the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and leukocyte count in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Ahmad Syafii Maarif Sijunjung Regional Hospital were as follows: ESR values of 12.7 mm/hour for men and 13.1 mm/hour for women, and leukocyte counts of 10.5/ul for men and 9.0/ul for women.
