Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB. Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (TB-RO) is, where the condition of the Maycobacterium Tuberculosis bacteria is already resistant to first-line TB drugs. The purpose of this study was to determine the picture of Candida albicans in patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis (TB-RO). This type of research is a descriptive study conducted to determine the presence of Candida albicans fungus in sputum samples of patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis (TB-RO). This study was conducted in February-June 2025 with 10 sputum samples of patients with drug-resistant pulmonary tuberculosis. The results of macroscopic research of Candida albicans as many as 4 samples growing on SDA media are characterized by small and large moon-shaped, with colony colors that are white and white, the smell of colonies found on the media is a pungent sour smell, and 6 negative samples did not find Candida albicans. In lactofeno it is round, in the gram tube found germinated yeast cells or elongated tubes, and in gram staining it is round or oval and has a nucleus. Conclusion: of 10 TB-RO sputum samples, Candida albicans was found in 3 respondents in men and 1 in women, based on age, the results of the number of adults were 2 respondents, 1 elderly respondent, and 1 elderly adult respondent, and based on the length of treatment period sample code 2 and 9 for 6 months, sample code 4 for 8 months, and sample code 5 for 17 months.
