Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis and most commonly affects the lungs. In Indonesia, TB remains a significant public health issue. This study aims to determine the effect of sputum sample storage on pulmonary TB examination result, using the GeneXpert method, as well as to determine whether storage affects diagnostic accuracy. This research is a descriptive observational study. A total 40 samples were taken using quota sampling. The samples were examined using the TCM method. The result showed that of the 20 samples examined immediately, 9 samples tested positive, while among the stored samples, 8 tested positive with different CT values. The results showed that the stored samples had a higher average CT value. This indicates that storing samples at room temperature may lead to less valid results.
