Abstract

Urine is a liquid waste product that is filtered from the blood by the kidneys, stored in the bladder, and excreted to eliminate metabolic waste substances that are no longer needed by the body through the urethra via the process of urination. The aim of this study is to determine the results of urine protein examination using the heating method with acetic acid and a urine analyzer on patients at RSUD Padang Panjang. This type of research is descriptive and was conducted from February to July 2025 at RSUD Padang Panjang. The population of the study consisted of urine protein examinations with a sample size of 30 patients taken through random sampling. The urine protein examination was performed using two methods: heating with acetic acid and a urine analyzer. Based on the data obtained, it was found that 8 male patients (26.7%) underwent the urine protein examination, while the number of female patients examined for urine protein was not specified. More patients aged 55-65 years underwent urine protein tests at RSUD Padang Panjang, possibly due to the increased risk of kidney disease and other health conditions associated with proteinuria at this age. The results of the manual study using heating with acetate reagent indicated that 6 patients (20%) tested negative, 5 patients (16.7%) tested positive for 1, 6 patients (20%) tested positive for 2, 10 patients (33.3%) tested positive for 3, and 3 patients (10%) tested positive for 4. The results of the study using a urine analyzer showed that 6 patients (20%) tested negative, 6 patients (20%) tested positive for 1, 9 patients (30%) tested positive for 2, 5 patients (16.7%) tested positive for 3, and 4 patients (13.3%) tested positive for 4 Keywords: Urine protein, Acetic acid heating, Urine analyzer tools.
