Abstract
Detection of Helicobacter pylori bacteria in stool samples from stunted children using quantitative PCR at the Koto Tengah Lubuk Buaya Community Health Center This study aims to detect the presence of Helicobacter pylori bacteria in stool samples from stunted children using the Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) method at the Koto Tengah Lubuk Buaya Health Center.Helicobacter pylori infection is one of the most common bacterial infections worldwide and is suspected to play a role in childhood growth disorders. This study employed a laboratory experimental design with a cross-sectional approach. The study samples consisted of stool samples collected from stunted children and normal children, followed by macroscopic and microscopic examinations, DNA isolation, and qPCR testing using the Crown Lab kit. Analysis of the results was based on the Ct (Cycle Threshold) value with a cutoff of <38 for positive interpretation. The study results showed that Helicobacter pylori DNA was not detected in the samples from stunted children, while the presence of Helicobacter pylori was detected in normal children. These results indicate that Helicobacter pylori was detected in stool samples from normal children and not detected in stool samples from stunted children. Thus, the causes of stunting are likely more influenced by nutritional, socioeconomic, and environmental factors. This study is expected to serve as a reference for further research with a broader sample size and consideration of other relevant variables
