Abstract
Lactic Acid (BAL) bacteria are the microbiota of the digestive tract that has an important role in human health. Breast milk is a source of lactic acid bacteria that plays a role in maintaining the balance of microflora in the digestive tract. Based on its resistance properties, BAL can be classified as a probiotic that can improve gut health, strengthen the immune system, and protect the host from pathogenic infections. Before a bacterium can be said to be a probiotic, it must meet several criteria, one of which is to survive against bile salts. This study aims to determine the resistance of Lactic Acid Bacteria isolate from Breast Milk (ASI) to bile salts as probiotic candidates. This research was conducted in the biomedical laboratory and pharmaceutical laboratory of Perintis University of Indonesia, conducted from June 2024 to June 2025. The research method to be carried out is experimental with non-probability sampling techniques. The data were analyzed using a descriptive test. The results showed that 14 Lactic Acid Bacterial Isolates (BALs) were tested for 0.5% and 0.3% bile salt resistance. All BAL isolates exhibit the ability to survive and grow at 0.3% and 0.5% salt levels. Conclusion in this study, 14 Lactic Acid Bacteria (BAL) Isolates from Breast Milk (ASI) have the potential to be probiotic candidates.
