Abstract

Lactic Acid (BAL) bacteria are the microbiota of the digestive tract that has an important role in human health. Breast milk contains complete and balanced nutrients and is easy for babies to digest. Breast milk, especially colostrum, is the main source of Lactic Acid Bacteria (BAL) for babies. Based on its resistant properties, BAL can be classified as one of the probiotics. Before a bacterium can be said to be a probiotic, it must meet several criteria, one of which is to survive stomach acid. This research was conducted at the Biomedical Laboratory of Perintis Indonesia University from June 2024 to June 2025. The research method to be carried out is experimental with non-probability sampling techniques. The data were analyzed using a descriptive test. The results showed that 14 Lactic Acid Bacterial Isolates (BAL) were tested for resistance to stomach acid pH 2 and 5.7. All BAL isolates exhibit the ability to survive and grow at acidic pH 2 and 5.7. Conclusion in this study, 14 Lactic Acid Bacteria (BAL) Isolates from Breast Milk (ASI) have the potential to be probiotic candidates in vitro. The suggestion in the next study is to conduct in vivo testing of Lactic Acid Bacteria (BAL) isolated from breast milk to determine its effectiveness in more complex biological conditions.
