Abstract

Diabetes melitus is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to a relative deficiency of insulin action and insulin secretion. In type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance can affect the body's metabolism, including the production and disposal of lipids, which causes an increase in LDL cholesterol levels. This study aims to determine the relationship between blood glucose levels and LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) levels. This type of research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design conducted in February - July 2025 at Aulia Hospital, Pekanbaru. The population of this study was Diabetes Melitus patients with a sample of 30 type 2 Diabetes Melitus patients taken by purposive sampling technique. Examination of blood glucose levels using the GOD-PAP Enzymatic method and LDL levels using the CHOD PAP Enzymatic method using a spectrophotometer. The results of the study were analyzed univariately and bivariately. The results of univariate data analysis obtained the frequency distribution of DM patients with the highest blood glucose levels were fasting blood glucose levels ≥125 mg/dl as many as 19 patients (63.3%) and the highest LDL levels were high levels ≥130 mg/dl as many as 15 patients (50%). Bivariate analysis using the normality test obtained ABSTRAK data that was not normally distributed because p <0.05, then the further test used was the Spearman correlation test with a value of P = 0.743. So it can be stated that there is no significant relationship between fasting blood glucose and LDL levels in Type 2 DM patients at Aulia Hospital, Pekanbaru Regional General Hospital. Keywords: Blood Glucose Level, LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein), Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
