Abstract

Candida albicans fungal infection is a common health problem in Indonesia, especially on skin in moist areas. This infection is an opportunistic infection that can affect erythrocyte cell condition and immune response. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of Fumigasol emulgel, formulated in three main formulations, as a topical antifungal therapy in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) infected with Candida albicans. This study is beneficial in the development of safe and effective antifungal therapy and can reduce the use of conventional drugs. The study used an experimental method with a Randomized Post-Test Control Group design, involving 27 white rats (Rattus norvegicus), 24 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) were inoculated with Candida albicans to induce infection, and 3 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) served as negative controls. Emulgel Fumigasol was applied topically for 21 days, followed by microscopic observation of changes in erythrocytes and leukocytes. The results of this study showed that among the three formulations tested, one formulationprovided the best and most significant antifungal effect on the recovery of therats' condition. Based on these results, Emulgel Fumigasol with 2% concentration (A&B) is effective as an antifungal therapy for Candida albicans infection when applied topically withan optimal formulation of ingredients.
