Abstract

Chronic kidney failure is a significant health issue due to its increasing prevalence and incidence. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 50% of the global population suffers from both acute and chronic kidney failure, with only 25% receiving adequate treatment. In Indonesia, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is recorded at 31.7% among the population aged 18 and above. This study aims to analyze the reduction of urea and creatinine levels in chronic kidney failure patients after undergoing hemodialysis at the Padang Panjang City Hospital. This research employed a descriptive approach with qualitative analysis, involving 42 patients who underwent hemodialysis. The results showed that hemodialysis effectively reduced blood urea and creatinine levels, with an average reduction of -81% for urea and -74% for creatinine. Statistical analysis using the paired sample T-test showed significant differences between ureum and creatinine levels before and after hemodialysis (p-value < 0.05). These findings enhance understanding of hemodialysis benefits in managing patients with chronic kidney failure.
