Abstract
Anemia is still a major health problem in the world due to iron deficiency. Basically the symptoms of anemia arise because a decrease in hemoglobin will cause, target organ anoxia due to the reduced amount of oxygen carried by blood to the tissues, causing symptoms in the affected organs (Cardiovascular system, system Nervous, urogenital system, epithelium), and the body's compensation mechanisms cause symptoms of decreased affinity of Hb to oxygen by increasing the enzyme 2,3 DPG (2,3 diphospho glycerate), Increasing cardiac output, Redistribution of blood flow, Lowering venous oxygen pressure. These two causes are referred to as Anemia Syndrome (symptoms of anemia). Any type of anemia at a low Hemoglobin level <7g / dl (iron deficiency, aplastic, hemolytic). Hemoglobin is a protein that binds iron (Fe² +) in erythrocytes with the transport function of O2 and CO2. In cases of anemia with low Hb levels, blood transfusions should be used. One of the tests commonly done for anemia can be seen from the value of hemoglobin in the blood. This study aims to determine hemoglobin levels in anemia sufferers before and after blood transfusions carried out at Raden Mattaher Hospital Jambi, in February - April 2020. The population and sample of the study were random data collection of 100 anemia patients who had blood transfusions during 2019. Hb levels using a Hematology Analyzer. The results of the study of anemia patients based on the average age of 0-25 years were 40 people, 37 people 26-50 years old, more than 51 people 23 people. Based on the sex of 41 men and 59 women, most of the anemia sufferers before transfusion were low, whereas after transfusion most of them were normal (55%), and the average hemoglobin level before transfusion was 7.6 g. / dl and 9.8 g / dl after transfusion for women, 6.6 g / dl for men before transfusion and 8.4 g / dl after transfusion. Data are presented in table form based on gender and age, blood Transfusions.
