Abstract

Delayed urinalysis may affect the stability of urine specimen and validity of test result.Purpose of the Study: to analyze the differences of the test result between freshly voided urine and urine specimen stored at room temperature for 24 hours and preserved with toluene at Rumah Sakit Santa Maria Pekanbaru in 2021. Method of the Research: this was an experimental study with Cross Sectional design. Population: Population of the study was outpatients undergoing urinalysis at the clinical pathology laboratory of Rumah Sakit Santa Maria Pekanbaru in Juli 2021. Samples: accidental sampling technique was applied in this study. 6% acetic acid heating method was performed.Data were analyzed with an independent t-test. Results: statistical analysis indicated that there were no significant differences of the test result between freshly voided urine and urine specimen stored at room temperature for 24 hours and preserved with toluene with significance value of 0,000 (p<0.05).Conclusion: there was no differences of the test result between freshly voided urine and urine specimen stored at room temperature for 24 hours and preserved with toluene
