Abstract
Heart Failure is a clinical syndrome characterized by the inability of the heart to pump enough blood to meet the needs of oxygen and nutrients to body tissues. Heart failure is the final stage of all heart disease and is also a cause of increased morbidity and mortality in cardiac patients. Several studies have shown that sodium levels in the blood or sodium levels <135 mEq/L may be associated with increased mortality in patients with heart failure. This study aims to determine the sodium level in heart failure patients. The patient population is all patients suffering from heart failure in Dr. M. Djamil Padang and the study sample was serum of 50 patients. This research was conducted in October 2020 to January 2021. The results showed that sodium levels in patients with heart failure in 50 patients found the lowest age for heart failure patients was 32 years and the highest age was 66 years. Most of patients with heart failure are vulnerable to the age of 50-66 years, as many as 29 patients, 58%. The lowest value of sodium was 110 mmol / L in a 62 year old patient, and the highest sodium level was 149 mmol / L in a 49 year old patient. Male patients experienced more heart failure with a percentage of 56% compared to female patients. These results are consistent with the 2008 RINKESDES data. From the results of the study, the average sodium content of 135 mmol / L means that the sodium level is still within normal limits. Keywords : Heart Failure, Sodium Levels, ISE, Electrolyte analyzer.
