Abstract
Streptococcus pneumoniae merupakan bakteri penyebab infeksi saluran pernafasan manusia. Media agar darah adalah media kompleks khusus yang biasa digunakan untuk mengisolasi dan mengkultur Streptococcus pneumoniae. Media agar darah juga dapat membedakan sifat-sifat bakteri, seperti kemampuannya menghasilkan banyak eksotoksin yang bisa merusak sel darah merah. Berdasarkan kemampuannya merusak sel darah merah, maka dibedakan menjadi tiga tipe hemolisis yaitu alfa hemolisis, beta hemolisis dan juga gamma hemolisis. tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus pneumoniae terhadap konsentrasi media agar darah. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan eksperimental laboratory. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pertumbuhan morfologi,dan diameter bakteri Streptococcus pneumoniae terhadap media agar darah manusia dengan masing-masing konsentrasi tidak memiliki perbedaan. untuk tipe hemolisis bakteri Streptococcus pneumoniae pada konsentrasi 2,5%, 5%,7,5%,10% menunjukkan alfa hemolisis. Kata kunci : hemolisis,media agar darah, Streptococcus pneumonia ABSTRACT Streptococcus pneumoniae is a bacterium that causes respiratory tract infections in humans. Blood agar is a special complex medium commonly used to isolate and culture Streptococcus pneumoniae. Blood agar media can also distinguish the characteristics of bacteria, such as their ability to produce many exotoxins that can damage red blood cells. Based on its ability to damage red blood cells, it is divided into three types of hemolysis, namely alpha hemolysis, beta hemolysis and also gamma hemolysis. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the growth of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria on the concentration of blood agar media. This research method uses an experimental laboratory. The results showed that the morphological growth and diameter of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria on human blood agar media with each concentration did not differ. For the type of hemolysis of bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae at a concentration of 2.5%, 5%,7.5%,10% showed alpha hemolysis. Keywords : blood agar plate, hemolisys, Streptococcus pneumoniae
