Abstract
Pesticides are chemical substances and other materials as well as microorganisms and viruses that function to prevent various pests on plants. There is an effect of pesticides on haemoglobin levels because pesticides can reduce the production or increase the destruction of red blood cells. Haemoglobin is the oxygen-carrying red pigment in red blood cells. Other health problems caused by pesticides are hypertension because pesticides that enter the human body will bind to the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AchE) resulting in the accumulation of acetylcholine and autonomic (nicotinic) gaglions. The purpose of thr study was to determine haemoglobin and hypertension levels in farmers and to find out how long the use of pesticides by farmers based one age. This type of research is descriptive. The research was conducted in june 2022. With blood samples from farmers. From the results of the study based on haemoglobin examination conducted on 20 respondents there were 12 people (60%) farmers had normal haemoglobin levels and 8 people (40%) farmers had abnormal haemoglobin. The highest haemoglobin level value was 18.6 g/dL, the lowest haemoglobin level was 9.8 g/dL. In the examination of blood pressure, the result of the study were based on the gender of woman with hypertension 1 person (5%) farmers and in men the most hypertension was found 8 farmers. While those who have a history of hypertension are 4 people (20%) farmers. In the 11-20 years of pesticides use, 11 people (55%) were farmers. Keyword : Pesticide, Haemoglobin, Hypertension
