Abstract
Tuberculosis is a disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Most tuberculosis bacteria attack the lungs but can also affect other organs. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the results of the examination of leukocyte count and blood sedimentation rate values in patients with drug-sensitive pulmonary tuberculosis (SO) and drug resistance (RO) at Pidie Jaya Aceh Hospital. This type of research is descriptive with a cross sectional design, conducted in February until July 2023 with a total sample of 30 people. Examination of the number of leukocytes is carried out with a hematology analyzer, while the examination of the sedimentation rate of blood is carried out by the Westergreen method. The results of the study found tuberculosis patients showed that from 30 respondents there were drug-sensitive tuberculosis patients with normal leukocyte counts as many as 14 people (47%) and abnormal 16 people (53%), normal blood sedimentation rate values as many as 6 people (20%) and not normal 24 people (80%). While those who experienced drug resistance with normal leukocyte counts were 7 people (23%) and abnormal 23 people (77%), normal blood sedimentation rate values were 6 people (20%) and abnormal 24 people (80%). For the P-Value obtained by the Chi square test, which is 0.013 where this value is ≤ 0.05 which shows a relationship between the number of leukocytes and the sedimentation rate of blood in patients with drug-sensitive pulmonary TB (SO). For the P-Value obtained by the Chi square test, which is 0.040 where this value is ≤ 0.05 which shows a relationship between the number of leukocytes and the sedimentation rate of blood in patients with Drug Resistant Pulmonary TB (SO). Keywords : Tuberculosis infection, Leukocytes, Blood sedimentation rate
