Abstract

Kaffir lime leaf extract contains alkaloids, polyphenols, essential oils, tannins, saponins, and flavonoids. Kaffir lime has pharmacological effects as an antiseptic and antioxidant. Nanoemulgel is a gel-based nanoemulsion preparation and has a small particle size, with a droplet size of 1-200 nm so that it can increase the particle size to penetrate the skin membrane. This study aims to determine the extract of kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix) can be formulated as nanoemulgel with HPMC gelling agent base and see the effect of HPMC gelling agent concentration on nanoemulgel formula. Optimization of 54 formulas was carried out and obtained F1 with the best particle size which was used as a nanoemulsion base formula. Then added a gel base of kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix) until nanoemulgel is formed. Nanoemulgel evaluation includes organoleptis, pH test, vischistas test, dispersion test, physical stability, measurement, particle size analysis and irritation test. The results of nanoemulgel lime leaf extract F1, F2, F3 have a dosage form of thick green viscous liquid, characteristic odor, average pH 6.16 to 6.27, viscosity has an average from 1222.21 cp to 1428.25 cp. So it can be concluded that nanoemulgel lime leaf extract with HPMC gelling agent with concentrations of F1 1%, F2 2% and F3 3% cannot be formulated in the dosage form of nanoemulgel and affects physical evaluation and obtained particle sizes F1 594.2 nm, F2 943.6 nm and F3 971.2 nm.
