Abstract
Kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix) can potentially be repellent, because they contain essential oils with components including linalool, citronellol, geraniol, which are compounds that are repellent against insects. This study aims to formulate lime leaf essential oil in the form of nanoemulgel and test repellent activity against culex sp. mosquitoes. In this study, the essential oil formula of kaffir lime leaves was made with different concentration variations, namely, F1 (6%), F2 (8%), and F3 (10%). Then the physical evaluation test was carried out on each formula which included organoleptis examination, pH test, stability test, viscosity test, irritation test, particle size test and repellent activity test against culex sp. mosquitoes. The chemical content contained in kaffir lime leaf essential oil identified using GC-MS. The results of organoleptis, pH, and viscosity research obtained a stable formula for 6 weeks of storage. Examination of repellent activity in the nanoemulgel formula of lime leaf essential oil for 3 hours with a concentration of 6% has a protective power of 50%, a concentration of 8% has a protective power of 75% and a concentration of 10% has a protective power of 86,66%. The conclusion obtained is that lime leaf essential oil (Citrus hystrix) can be formulated as nanoemulgel with gelling agent karbopol 940 with a concentration of F1 (6%) with a paticle size of 90,01 nm, while for the repellent activity of nanoemulgel lime leaf essential oil against mosquitoes Culex Sp obtained the best activity test on F3 (10%) with a protective power of 86,66%.
