Abstract
Activities in the hospital make it possible for agents to spread a disease within the scope of the hospital which is called a nosocomial infection. Nosocomial infection transmission can occur directly or indirectly. Direct transmission, namely by direct contact with the patient and indirectly through intermediary media such as air, water and medical objects. The type of nosocomial infection is surgical wound infection (ILO). Surgical wound infection is caused by contamination of the surgical wound by bacteria which results in pus in the wound. Pus is a whitish yellow or red liquid derived from dead and decaying leukocyte cells. The purpose of this study was to determine whether surgical wound infections were caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This type of research was descriptive which was conducted at the Biomedical Laboratory of the Indonesian Pioneer University from April to July 2023. The research sample was determined using a total sampling of 6 pus samples from surgical wound infections. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the types of bacteria found in surgical wound infection pus.
