Abstract

ABSTRACT Pulmonary tuberculosis is a long-term infectious disease that can reduce a patient's nutritional status, including blood albumin levels. Long-term inflammation and malnutrition cause hypoalbuminemia in tuberculosis patients, which interferes with the healing process and increases the risk of complications. This study aims to describe albumin levels in patients suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis at Sawahlunto Regional Hospital. This descriptive study used a total sampling approach. Sample pulmonary tuberculosis patients, who met certain criteria, were treated at Sawahlunto Regional Hospital from January 2024 to March 2025. Of the 40 patients studied, 70% were men and 30% were women. The examination results showed that only 2 patients (10%) had normal albumin levels, and 38 patients (90%) had hypoalbuminemia. The albumin levels of most pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Sawahlunto Regional Hospital were low. These results indicate that the nutritional status of pulmonary tuberculosis patients changes significantly, so it is important to pay attention to nutrition in tuberculosis treatment. Keywords: pulmonary tuberculosis, albumin levels, hypoalbumin, RSUD Sawahlunto.
