Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease that often leads to microvascular complications, such as diabetic nephropathy, which can affect creatinine and hemoglobin levels in the blood. Elevated creatinine levels indicate impaired kidney function, while decreased hemoglobin levels (anemia) are common complications that worsen the patient's condition. This study aimed to determine the relationship between creatinine and hemoglobin levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at RSUD Pasaman Barat. The type of research used is descriptive analytical with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 100 inpatient and outpatient individuals who met the inclusion criteria. Data were obtained through laboratory examinations using the SanyMed spectrophotometer for creatinine levels and the Sysmex hematology analyzer for hemoglobin levels. The Chi-square test showed a significant relationship between creatinine and hemoglobin levels (p = 0.010). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant correlation between creatinine and hemoglobin levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Monitoring both parameters is important for early detection of complications and for improving patients’ quality of life. Keywords: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, creatinine, hemoglobin, kidney, anemia.
