Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a health condition that is a chronic metabolic disorder, characterized by high blood sugar due to problems with insulin function or production. This study aims to explore the relationship between current blood sugar levels and urine ketone test results in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. By applying a quantitative cross-sectional method to 40 patients at Dr. Adnaan WD Payakumbuh Regional Hospital from January to May 2025, the data were analyzed using ANOVA after conducting a normality test. The findings showed that 39 patients experienced hyperglycemia and 33 of them showed positive urine ketone results. It was found that blood sugar levels increased in line with increasing ketone levels in the urine, with a significant value of p = 0.000. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between blood sugar levels and urine ketones, so urine ketone examination can be used as an additional indicator to evaluate the severity of hyperglycemia.
