Abstract

Cesarean section (SC) delivery is a surgical procedure that can increase the risk of blood loss, thus affecting the mother's hemoglobin (Hb) levels. Decreased Hb levels after SC can have an impact on maternal health conditions. This study aims to determine the difference in hemoglobin levels before and after cesarean section delivery at Tuanku Imam Bonjol Pasaman Hospital. This research method is an observational analysis with a cross-sectional approach, conducted on 50 mothers undergoing SC during the April-June 2025 period. Hemoglobin level data was measured using a Hematology Analyzer from blood samples. The results showed that the average hemoglobin level before SC was 12.8 g/dl and after SC was 12.1 g/dl. The T-Dependent test showed a significant difference between hemoglobin levels before and after SC (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant decrease in hemoglobin levels after cesarean delivery. This research is expected to be a consideration in maternal health management to anticipate the risk of post-SC anemia
