Abstract
Diabetes mellitus type 2 (T2DM) is the most common type of diabetes covering around 90% of cases. In women with diabetes mellitus, the risk of increased growth of Candida albicans is higher. This is because in conditions of uncontrolled glucose levels in the vaginal wall can increase sugar levels so that it becomes an ideal place for fungal growth. The purpose of this study was to detect the Candida albicans pathway using the culture method and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). This type of research is an analitic observation with a cross-sectional study design. The results of the Candida albicans fungus study using the culture method from 10 samples showed that 1 samples were declared positive. The results of the PCR method showed that DNA band amplification was seen at a size of 600 bp. The results of this study can be concluded that PCR is a fast and accurate method for detecting Candida albicans because it has high sensitivity and specificity.
