Abstract

Infection is a condition caused by the invasion of pathogenic microorganisms into the body, potentially leading to tissue damage and various health complications.This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of ethyl citrate extract from endophytic fungi isolated from Dahlia variabilis tubers against pathogenic bacteria found in the pus and feces of white mice (Rattus norvegicus). The experiment was conducted in vivo using 25 mice divided into five groups: a negative control group, a positive control group (gentamicin), and three treatment groups receiving ethyl citrate extract at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%. Bacterial colony counts were observed on days 0, 7, and 14 using the Total Plate Count (TPC) method. The results showed a reduction in bacterial colonies across all treatment groups. The most significant reduction in pus samples was observed at 5% concentration, while the highest reduction in fecal samples occurred at 15%.
