Abstract
Infectious diseases remain a serious public health issue in developing countries like Indonesia, often caused by bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The rise in antibiotic resistance increases the demand for new antibacterial therapies, including natural-based products like Fumigasol emulgel. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of Fumigasol emulgel against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus , and to compare its effectiveness. The well diffusion method was used with various emulgel formulasitions. Results indicated that the F5 formulasi was most effective against Escherichia coli with an inhibition zone of 27.69 mm, while the F11 formulasi showed the highest activity against Staphylococcus aureus with a 19.88 mm inhibition zone. The emulgel demonstrated greater effectiveness against Gram-negative bacteria. Variations in antibacterial activity may be attributed to the composition of active compounds and bacterial cell wall structures. It is concluded that Fumigasol emulgel has potential as an antibacterial agent, although its effectiveness varies depending on bacterial type. Keywords: Fumigasol emulgel, antibacterial, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, inhibition zone, natural ingredients
