Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is a pathogenic bacteria if it exceeds the kimit in the human body. Leaves have an active substance with antibacterial effects of taninns, flavonoid, essential oil, and alkaloid. The purpose of this research is toknow the inhibitory power of (Syzyghium polyanthum walp) leaf extract on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research type is laboratory experiment with difusion method of kirby bauer disc. The research sample is bay leaf extract the concntration of bay leaf extract is 100 mg, 150 mg, 200 mg. Inhibitory is obtained based on clear zone measurements formed around the disc paper. The data analysis was performed by statistik. (Syzygium polyanthum Walp) leaf extract resulted in a clear zone or inhibit zone for Staphylococcus aureus at concntration 100 mg(14,7mm), 150 mg(16 mm), 200 mg (20 mm). leaf extract greeting was able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and of all concentrations carried out a large inhibitory, inhibitory test was a concentrations off 200 mg.
