Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a group of Diabetes Mellitus with insulin resistance with relative insulin deficiency. Suspicions of DM need to get attention if there are classic Diabetes Mellitus complaints of polyuria, polydipsia, polifagia and unexplained weight loss. Each year approximately 3.2 million deaths are caused by DM, meaning there is one per second or 6 people per minute that die due to DM. Most individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus seem to be related to obesity. The purpose of this study was to look at the picture of blood glucose level using POCT method. This reasearch in March - July 2018 in the Laboratory Puskesmas Pagambiran Padang. This research method is analytical descriptive with cross sectional design. The population in this study were all patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who examined blood glucose levels at Pagambiran Puskesmas and 30 samples were taken randomly. From the research that has been done, the average blood glucose level is 208 mg / dl. Glucose levels by sex were obtained in men as many as 13 people (43%) had high glucose levels and as many as 2 people (7%) had normal glucose levels. In women obtained as many as 14 people (47%) have high blood glucose levels and as many as 1 person (3%) have normal blood glucose levels.
