Abstract
Food of snacks of school children (PJAS) in Indonesia is known to decrease, as shown by the extraordinary incidence of poisoning in West Sumatra reported to the Health Department. In 2017 as many as six cases of poisoning by the number of casualties as much as 404 people. One reason was the contamination of street food. Contamination in street food may cause foodborne disease, one of whom diarrhea and food poisoning. The cause of contamination of the food is microbial contamination, microbial contamination is a major cause non-fulfillment of requirements on food snacks school children (PJAS) in Indonesia one of them caused by Escherichiacoli.Objective This study aims to determine the presence of bacterial contamination, the amount of bacteria, and identification of bacteria Escherichia coli in the meatball skewers snacks. Samples were taken from five elementary schools in the District of Mount Talang. The calculation method Test method Total Plate Count (TPC), the insulation on the media, and biochemical tests. Research shows the results of the average number of bacteria at 3.5 x 104 CFU / gram was found in all samples. The results of this study showed that 1 out of 5 samples meatball skewers has exceeded the threshold. While the other 4 are still allowed to be consumed.
